Early Learning Pathway Students Gain Real-Life Teaching Experience
These eager future educators collaborated with experienced teachers to refine a range of skills, including classroom management, smooth transitions, and effective small-group instruction, among others!
Grace England staff and students welcomed the young educators with open arms, allowing them to step into the shoes of professional teachers.
“We have learned so many things while here at Grace England,” Klein Cain High School Senior Kelsey Muray said. “Like activities to help young kids develop their fine motor skills, classroom management strategies, and different ways to hold and keep a child’s attention.”
The collaboration not only benefited the high school students but also added an extra layer of learning to the teachers’ and students’ daily activities. After the students finished their morning of co-teaching, they were able to sit down and debrief with Grace England Assistant Principal Alex Alvarenga.
“The most important thing is that they get to interact with the kids,” Mr. Alvarenga said. “They get to support the classroom teachers and get to see what’s going on in the classroom in real time. There was a lot of learning going on at Grace England today!”
“Seeing how these experienced teachers at Grace England had routines put in place will really help me in my future,” Klein Oak Senior Rylee Martineau said. “I will be a better teacher knowing these skills for my kids in the Klein Oak Preschool and when I become a teacher in the future—hopefully in Klein!”
We have many opportunities for our kids in Klein to find their purpose in different pathways of choice. Just like in our Early Learning Pathway, students can begin taking classes in Intermediate School to prepare them for their future careers!
