Coveted Scholarship Awarded to Klein Cain Army JROTC Cadet
Klein Cain JROTC Cadet Sergeant First Class Wesley Ng has been awarded one of the most challenging military scholarships to obtain. The duration of Wesley’s college education will be covered by the Texas A&M University Navy ROTC Scholarship – Marine Corps option.
This scholarship is worth over $180,000 and will include a monthly stipend and a yearly textbook allowance, in addition to tuition, room and board. This scholarship is so hard to get because of its limited availability and the strict qualifying credentials, including a student’s reputation within their community. Wesley’s reputation as a student leader speaks for itself, and to those who know him personally, this scholarship is well deserved.
“I am so proud of Wesley and this amazing accomplishment! His selection as a Texas A&M Navy Scholarship recipient is a true testament to his work ethic, character, and perseverance,” Klein Cain Principal Nicole Patin said. “He has shown such amazing leadership capability at Cain as an integral part of our Army JROTC Hurricane Battalion, and I know he has nothing but success in his future.”
This scholarship is unique because it tests an applicant’s physical fitness. Wesley’s physical fitness is something he’s worked hard to improve and maintain since he was a freshman while mastering his social skills and focusing on academic success. He has consistently grown in these areas during his high school career, making him a top contender for the Navy ROTC scholarship.
Throughout his four years in JROTC, Wesley has held several Cadet leadership positions and received numerous leadership and participation awards.
“What really sets Wesley apart from his peers is not only is he dedicated, well educated, and well-spoken, but he is also an excellent leader,” Klein Cain Senior Army JROTC Instructor Major Carl Lockett said. “Wesley has a great work ethic and is humble, has a great personality, and is fun to be around.”
Wesley will be majoring in engineering while attending Texas A&M University and serving as a member of the Corps of Cadets. He will commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps when he graduates. Being able to join the Marine Corps as an officer is a major goal for Wesley.
“I am very honored to have been awarded a Navy ROTC Scholarship,” Wesley said. “JROTC challenged me to gain confidence in myself and be a leader. It has positively impacted me, and I’ve established friendships that I hope will last for a lifetime.”
Congratulations Wesley, your dedication to leadership and hard work is inspirational. We are so proud of you!
